Staycation
Storage

July 7, 2017

How will you spend your summer vacation? If you’re planning a staycation this year, set aside a day to perk up your house with a storage project or two! Here are three of our favorite ideas.

Workshop Spruce-Up
It couldn’t be easier to straighten up a messy tool area. Install peg boards on a large wall in your garage, basement, or other work area. Measure the tools you’d like to hang and mark the measurements on the peg board in pencil. Put hooks or nails into the pegs, and voila: each tool has its own space! For a little extra organization, label each tool’s individual space with a paint pen or permanent marker.

Barbecue Heaven
Treat the grill master in your family to a custom made work station. Add a lattice panel to the outside of a standard bar cart. Hang tongs, spatulas, and brushes off of hooks on the panel, then use the bottom surface of the cart as a storage space for cutting boards and the top surface as a prep area. The best part? It’s easy to cover up or roll away in case of rain.

Outdoor Toy Storage
Keeping the kids from leaving a trail of toys in their wake may be a losing battle, but a little organization can go a long way! Using large plastic buckets or bins, designate containers for different types of toys – balls, chalk, water toys, et cetera – and store them on sturdy shelving units. If you don’t have a garage, keep it in your backyard. If you do, hang hooks next to the shelves for larger toys like jump ropes or goals.

Our favorite storage idea, of course, is calling Jack Rabbit Self Storage at (757) 453-4165 to reserve a safe, secure storage space. Stop by any of our eleven convenient locations in the Hampton Roads area to learn more!
