What is Self-Storage?

Self-storage is an affordable, efficient way for you to store your possessions in a clean and secure environment. Self-storage makes it easy to store items of all shapes and sizes in one convenient storage location. You provide the lock and keep the only key(s).

Do I need climate control?

This decision depends on a number of factors including what type of items are being stored.  Climate Control provides added protection for your stored goods and our premium HVAC systems control both temperature and humidity.  Please consult our storage experts who would be more than happy to recommend the ideal space to best suit your specific needs.  Call us today at (757)-962-6914.

What are the lease terms?

All of our rentals are on a month-to-month basis and automatically renew monthly until you give us a vacate notice.

What hours can a space be rented?

Rent online 24/7. Complete and sign the rental paperwork and move-in daily from 7 AM – 9 PM.

Do you pro-rate rent?

Jack Rabbit does not pro-rate monthly rental rates. We will be happy to charge you for a few extra days past your due day. We do not refund partial months.

What size Units do you have and how much do they cost?

We have a wide variety of unit sizes to meet your needs. Sizes and prices vary by location.

How do I pay for my Unit?

Payments can be processed, by telephone, by mail or through our website. You may also arrange for payments to be drafted from your bank account or charged to your credit card monthly with our free autopay service.

Who has access to my Unit besides me?

You will be the only one to have access to your unit, unless you add someone to your account to have authorized access. You will need to provide your authorized access person(s) with your gate code and the key to your lock.

Is vehicle storage allowed?

Yes, we recommend at least a 10×20 size unit for most vehicles. Extended trucks with a long bed or large SUV’s usually fit well in a 10×25 size unit.

Do you have outdoor/indoor vehicle storage?

We offer inside vehicle storage at all locations and we have limited outside parking at a few of our locations.

Do you have RV parking spaces?

We have limited RV parking spaces at our Chesapeake location.

Do you sell packing supplies?

We offer a wide variety of packing supplies at a few of our locations. Stop by our “one-stop” shop today and find all the tools you need to move like a pro.

I lost the key to my lock; what can I do?

You will need to call a locksmith and notify us.

Do you allow PODS on the property?

We will allow a POD to be placed on the property to unload for 24 hours. Give us a call at 757-962-6914 so we can help with placement.

 Do you have a Refer A Friend program?

Yes!  Refer us someone who needs a storage unit and when they rent with us we’ll give you a $50 Rent credit.

 

Renting a Unit:

What hours can a Unit be rented?

Do I have to reserve a Unit in order to rent a Unit?

You don't need a reservation to rent a storage unit. However, a reservation does ensure that you'll be able to secure the exact unit you need. If you spot a deal or low price for a certain unit, you will need to reserve that unit at that time to lock in that price.

What if I’m not sure what size unit I need?

Our size guide videos are a good place to start, but if you rent a unit that doesn't work for you, we would be more than happy to move you to a different unit.

Do I have to sign a lease?

No, but a signed monthly Rental Agreement is required. All rentals are month-to-month.

What do I need to rent a unit?

Driver’s license or government-issued photo ID, a disc style lock, and first month's payment.

When can I move-in?

Immediately after you have completed all the rental paperwork and paid for the unit. Our gates are open daily 7 AM – 9 PM.

Can someone else rent a Unit for me in my name?

No. The person renting the unit must be present to provide a valid Driver’s license or government-issued photo ID and sign the Rental Agreement.

Do I need a lock?

Yes, we require that all customers secure their spaces with disc-style locks.

 

On The Property:

What are your office hours?

Our managers are on duty at most locations Tues – Sat 9:30 AM – 6 PM.

What are the gate access hours?

7 AM – 9 PM 365 days a year.

Do you allow bands to practice on your facility or in your units?

Our storage units are for storing belongings. We do not allow bands to practice on our facility or in our units.

Do you provide pest control?

Yes, we use professional preventative exterminating measures at all locations.

Are moving truck/vans allowed on the property?

Yes, most of our driveways feature 30-foot widths that can easily accommodate the largest truck or van. If you’re planning to move in with an 18-wheeler, please notify us at time of rental so that we may locate a unit nearest to the entrance.
